A Standardized Nursing Approach for Safe Arteriovenous Fistula Cannulation (안전한 동정맥루 천자를 위한 표준화된 간호접근)

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of a standardized nursing approach for safe arteriovenous fistula (AVF) puncture. Based on the 2019 KDOQI guidelines, a comprehensive protocol was developed, including pre-puncture vascular assessment, adherence to aseptic techniques, the rope-ladder technique, standardization of needle insertion angles, and nurse education. Following the implementation of this protocol, the first-attempt puncture success rate improved, while complications and pain significantly decreased, thereby enhancing patient safety and the quality of nursing care.
